Saik’uz First Nation Annual General Assembly

Welcome to the Annual General Assembly Page
The Annual General Assembly (AGA) is a cornerstone of Saik’uz First Nation’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and community engagement. It is a time for members to come together, reflect on the past year, and discuss priorities for the future.

Highlights from the 2023-24 AGA
The 2023-24 AGA was a time to celebrate accomplishments, address challenges, and engage in meaningful dialogue. Key topics included:

  • Cultural & Language Revitalization: Significant progress was made in preserving the endangered Dakelh language, supported by grants from the First Peoples’ Cultural Council and the federal “Listen, Hear Our Voices” program.
  • Major Community Projects: Construction on the new Health Centre began, with completion expected in 2025. Plans for the new Fire Hall and Antoine Street extension were also shared.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Updates were provided on efforts to preserve biodiversity and restore the Nechako River ecosystem through collaborative agreements and advocacy.
  • Economic Development: Saik’uz continues to expand partnerships and explore renewable energy projects, ensuring land stewardship remains a core value.

Saik’uz remains committed to advancing self-determination and fostering a thriving community. Members are encouraged to stay engaged in upcoming projects and initiatives.
