On behalf of the Chief and Council, I would like to wish you all a very happy Easter! Spring is a time for revival, new ideas, and, for some of us, a fresh start!
COVID-19 has taken a toll on our community and on us as individuals. Two years of not being able to gather or visit each other was very difficult, but we made it through. We are hoping and praying that the pandemic is behind us and that we can begin moving forward as a community. The Saik’uz Offices are already planning and preparing new community events so we can start celebrating with each other!
One of these new events is a short Edmonton holiday. We are excited to support families in travelling to Edmonton for a mini vacation–we hope those able to go all enjoy your time together! Always remember how important family is and how precious our children are.
During the Easter holiday, I encourage you all to take the time to lift others up and be kind because so many are struggling. For those of you who need extra support, we have Richard Sampson here every Monday for counselling sessions. We also have the Adah Dene Healing Touch ladies scheduled to be in Saik’uz in April. If you are feeling overwhelmed or need someone to talk to, please reach out to us or turn to a trusted friend or family member. Together, we support and provide for each other.
Lastly, I hope for everyone to have a chance to enjoy the growing sunshine and, again, to have a wonderful Easter!
Mussi,
Chief Priscilla Mueller
