Dear Saik’uz Members,
I want to give you an update on a few events that have been happening in my life over the last 4 months. I have been having some health issues and after some CT scans and tests, I found out that I needed surgery for a condition that was quite serious, but treatable. Hearing news like this changes the way you look at life and you come to realize how short life is and how important family is. My family has supported me through this and I am very thankful for all that they do for me. I also want to thank Council and Saik’uz First Nation staff for lifting me up during this time and for supporting me with their love and kindness.
Surgery was scheduled for October 27th, and I took a medical leave starting October 26th. It has been 2 weeks since I had surgery, and, after 5 days in the hospital, I was sent home. I am recovering and am glad that the procedure is over. Because of the seriousness of the illness, I will have to have further treatment after I heal from surgery. I don’t know how long this will take, but I am trying very hard to concentrate on getting well.
I think of our community every day and you are in my prayers. As soon as I get the clear from my doctors, I will be back in the office. I appreciate your patience and all of the prayers and personal messages sent my way—it makes my day a little bit brighter and I thank you!
Council appointed Jackie Thomas to be Acting Chief in my absence. If you need assistance of any kind, please contact her or our General Manager, Tracy Appel.
Mussi,
Chief Priscilla Mueller
